Pitch Statement: A humorous narrative animation based on the memory of a woman’s mother and the associations to the telephone.
Target audience: Early Generation phone users of the ’80’s -’90’s era.
Paragraph 1: I would like to tell the story of a woman who just lost her mother, and through her memories she seemed to always associate the phone with her mother and a humorous event . Using a female character I will illustrate her memories of interacting with the phone as a child, teen and adult, and how those memories were associated with her mother. I intend to discuss the early processes of making a call. How the simple form of a phone in those time were limiting and how they have come into a-new, but all in the humor of those interactions.
Paragraph 2: Using examples of early rotary phones and pulse dialing I show how long it took to make a call and the frustration of the character of having to wait for the disc to spin back in place. I’ll discuss the short phone cords and the limited mobility to the horrible busy signals, and the transition of touch tone dialing. The joy a teen felt when the wall phone was in the kitchen with a 5 yard long phone cord to wrap around your self and the ability to walk around the house when the cordless phone. I will also talk about call waiting and how the number of beeps you head when you called would tell you if someone else was on the other line but didn’t want to pick up. And how mother was able to call the operator to have your call interrupted, and if you had more then one phone in the house you mother would pick up to give you warning about getting off the phone but it took the up to the third warning when she was yelling would you hang up.
Paragraph 3: I will attempt stop motion along with a voice over of the story in an illustration format to show the following;

By creating a stop motion illustration I will attempt show the humor of interacting with the long cord for example. When you would get a call you would walk around the house as far as the cord would allow, then you would ether get twisted in the cord or catch an unsuspecting runner in a cord choke.
